IN A BETTER WORLD
by David Thornbrugh

I wish I had a barber just for my eyebrows.
That would free up a lot of time.
I'd tip him with the eyebrow hairs.
Soon he'd have enough to braid a rope
long enough to reach the ground
and escape what I'm thinking.
Unlike me, who's doomed to peer
through the bars of my eyebrows,
listening for the sound of footsteps
coming down the corridor.

FINAL SAY
by Timothy Pilgrim

Religious youth sneaks Glock
to school, prevents murder spree,

kills weird dude before he shoots.
Students flee, hands over heads —

boy with Glock accidentally shot,
blown away by a Swat-team cop.

Father come to save his son
snuffs sniper with a backup gun.

Passing priest takes revenge,
pulls out Uzi, blasts the dad —

gets popped too, shot from above,
out of love, the final say.
